It begins with a compulsory school dentist appointment. With a recurring nightmare plaguing him, 13 year old Dru is petrified of the dentist, and he begs his identical brother Kal to put on his glasses and pretend to be him. This is how Dru finds himself among his class, watching with horror as they all suddenly fall into a group trance. Its not for long, but long enough to freak Dru out.

Kal has always been fit and good at sports but now he’s mega fast on his feet and his bike. What is going on? Dru shares his fears with Kal and they realise that whatever happened to their class at school, happened to Kal x 2. Their friend Tim has disappeared along with his parents, so telling anyone may put them in danger too.

As they try and work it all out between them, they discover a group of teens who also missed the fated dentist appointments. They warn the twins about people wearing a particular orange badge. The same badge their school Wellness Officer is wearing.

Who are the strangers at school? Where is Tim? Can they trust any adults with their fears and observations?

Now a TV Series, this trilogy is full of intrigue, action, and a creeping malevolence from the start. I also enjoyed the twins home setting, and their beloved and bossy dadi (grandmother) running their household for their busy parents, and their Diwali celebrations.

Kal and Dru are easy to like with their sibling banter and concern for each other and their friends. An added teen nemesis also makes things interesting and I’m hoping the next book in this series will step up the intrigue even further.

If you liked Jack Heath’s Liars Series, you’ll love this.
