Ever since Flick received a Best Big Sister Ever t-shirt when her baby sister was born, she has tried to live up to it. Flick and 13 month old Birdie are now very close, But Flick wishes Birdie would pick another bed time story instead of Petunia the Unicorn’s Super-fabulous First Birthday. Flick had read it hundreds of times, and thought many things in Petunia’s party were a bit silly.
Who would want to jump into a marshmallow pit? Wouldn’t it be horribly sticky? What about sliding down a rainbow slide made of sour straps? Everyone knows that would be far from smooth. And what about Unicorns pooping cupcakes? Ridiculous.
But there is something Flick doesn’t know. Her grandmother left her grandchildren something special. So special that everything they know about Petunia’s Unicorn party is actually possible, and happening right now in their back yard!
Flick can’t believe it, and her parents try to explain. They make the most of it all by inviting their friends and neighbours, but there are some things they must keep secret, including a very naughty imp that is now part of the family.
The first in a series all about never-ending wishes, The Party Wish is perfect for emerging readers 6+.
Illustrations are loosely sprinkled through this junior chapter book, as the Wish sisters discover an incredible gift from their grandmother. It’s wonderful and terribly tricky at the same time.
These wishing possibilities will have young readers pondering their own wishes by the end of the story, and wondering what will happen in the next episode – (2) The Big Wish.
Two more episodes are on their way – (3) The Running Wish & (4) The Pet Wish
