Maya Puff is a Super Villain. She has a secret lair underneath her wardrobe which holds all her villain tech. Infra red goggles, ElectroVillain Kid Fully Busted magnetic shoes for climbing drain pipes, parachutes, grappling hooks, laser trip wires and more.

Ever since she was small, Maya’s mind has been full of schemes and plans to be the best villain possible. Her role model is Amy Monstera a pirate from two centuries ago who attacked, and stole from every continent around the world. Where she hid her treasure has remained a mystery to this day. Maya’s dream is not only to be as ruthless as Amy Monstera but find her treasure too.

Unfortunately no one takes her villainous intentions seriously, even when she wears a name badge to school with Villain Kid on it. Her best friend Levi is always on her side though, no matter what evil schemes she dreams up.

When Levi discovers something new about Amy Monstera’s treasure, Villain Kid is on it, her brain instantly sparking on a new plan. It does involve going to a local boarding school called St Flowerpot’s School for Ladies however, which is something she’s been trying to avoid. Her mum attended and wants Maya to go too. Mum finally gets her dream and drops Villain Kid off at the school she loved.

St Flowerpots may be surrounded by flowers, but there is also razor wire on the fences and bars on their bedroom windows – it used to be an asylum. Now it is neither hospital or school. Something evil is going on at St Flowerpots and Maya soon realises she’s way out of her league as far as Super Villains go.

As always Levi isn’t far away. With his help Maya must gather all the clues she can and outwit the the person that has already outwitted her plan. But can she really change her spots from villain to hero?

Third in the KID series by talented author Jack Heath, Villain Kid Fully Busted is my favourite yet.

Villainous tech, gizmos and gadgets. Razor wire, fried fleas and camel spit. Snake pits, loyal friends and rubbish bags. This story has it all!

Fully funny, with great gags, and a slapstick but not silly story. Quirky animals and quirkier characters kept me glued to the page, among the hilarious illustrations.

Maya’s transformation from loner to friend, and villain to hero is peppered with indecision (by this determined-to-be villain) but pumped full of action and plot twists which finally show who is the cleverest after all.
