Holly is excited for the holiday camp to begin. It is her first time as a camp counsellor, and the first time the camp has been run in the UK – based on the US summer campsWelcome to Camp Killer Book Review model.

The counsellors gather the night before, all a little nervous and in anticipation of the tween campers arriving the next day. An old story rises from the chatter. This is a story connected to the large old manor the camp is situated on, around the grounds.

The house had been built by a rich husband and sea captain for his new wife. It once had beautiful gardens and everything for their life together. It also included a platform near the top of the house called a widow’s walk. It was built with a view of the sea, so the wife could watch his return from his many sea voyages.

But the last time he came home to her, he brought another woman and a child, sending the wife into madness. It is now believed she haunts the manor. They all laugh this off and prepare for their first day of campers and being counsellors.

The first prank happens shortly after. It’s scary but laughed off just like the tale of a ghost on the grounds. The second strange event is life threatening and it’s not long before the counsellors are in fear for their lives. Is one of them responsible or is it really the widow wreaking revenge?
