It wasn’t planned. It completely freaks her out. When Ethel Leatherman orders some Chinese herbal medicine for her excruciating acne from the internet, and then falls asleep on a faulty sunbed, she wakes up to find she is invisible!

Raised by her very proper Gran, she calls her immediately, only for Gran to think she is having a early teen crisis and is feeling invisible.

Luckily her shape returns, and she tries to keep her secret to herself. But secrets like this are hard to hold onto and not everyone can be trusted with one. As Ethel is trying to keep this under control, (after all she did ‘borrow’ Gran’s credit card for the medicine and would like to leave that conversation as long as possible), Gran herself is acting strangely.

Where is Gran going when she claims to be at church meetings? What did Great Gran mean when she called Ethel a strange name at the rest home? And who is Gran’s new toyboy?

After living a life under the radar, not drawing attention to herself ‘like common people do’ according to Gran – Ethel discovers more about their past that Gran ever revealed.

Along with an unlikely friendship, scheming bullies, missing dogs and a pop star, this story combines the fantasy of being invisible with the intrigue and reality of family secrets. Another wonderful Welford novel.
