Five dragons have been raised from eggs, underneath a mountain and away from danger. They have been taught how to fight, their history, and their destiny. They are the five chosen dragonets – born to fulfill a prophecy that will end the endless war above.
Three Dragon Queens, Scarlett, Burn and Glacier rule with force and ruthlessness. If the dragonets knew just how dangerous they were, they wouldn’t have decided that they’d had enough of being under a mountain. They wouldn’t have escaped with their sudden desire to be free of their hard task masters and trainers.
Clay, Tsunami, Starflight, Sunny and Glory are soon in the clutches of one of the dragon queens – forced to fight in her gladiator type arena to the death. A young dragon called Peril has been trained as the Queen’s champion, reveling in her arena battles, and can’t understand why the dragonets won’t fight like they’re supposed to.
Clay is determined to try and show Peril another way, and they build a strange friendship. When Peril learns the Queen has been lying to her about her past, she is confused and her loyalty begins to shift. Will the Dragonets escape to fulfill their destiny, or is the prophecy based on showing dragons another way of life besides control and violence?
The first in a hugely popular series, the dragonets are all unique in their character and powers. Clay is the main character in this episode, wondering if he will ever be powerful and angry enough to ever be able to fight and kill another dragon – or if he even wants to!
He is brave, loyal to his friends, but naive after living under a mountain his entire life. This gets him in a little trouble. Full of action, and fierce fighting, I’m looking forward to reading more in the series.Â
