The time to face the King Witch is coming closer. Heroes Wish, Xar and Wish’s bodyguard Bodkin have found the ingredients they need for aWizards of Once (4) Never and Forever Book Review Cover powerful spell to banish witches from their world. Each ingredient was a quest in itself facing many dangers along the way, as they avoided their parents Warrior Queen Sychorax and Wizard King Encantor.

This Queen & King are livid that their offspring keep escaping and pursuing, what they consider a foolish, dangerous and hopeless desire to fight the King Witch. Even with Wish’s special magic against iron, they still find it hard to believe that their youngest children are determined to complete their quest. Not to mention that for many eons, Warriors and Wizards have been dire enemies.

Queen Sychorax and King Encantor know this rule well but broke it themselves many years before. But you’ll have to read the books to find out what THEY did. So back to the story…

Xar still has the mark of a witch on his hand and is finding it more difficult by the day to fight the dark witch magic growing inside him. He also struggles to continue to hide the pain it causes him, soldiering on with Wish, Bodkin and crew to find the King Witch.

First they must find Xar’s older brother Looter who has something they need for the spell. This causes Xar much worry and guilt because his favourite hairy fairy Squeezjoos has been also poisoned by dark magic. Xar knows he must find Squuezjoos and rescue him before it its too late!

And suddenly the moment has come. They first make a deal with the King Witch. He grants their wishes but claims he will soon be scorching the entire world to dust! Wish must now face the evil, powerful King Witch alone – with all manner of creatures, witches, giants and monsters looking on. Will Wish’s spell work?

The final in this thrilling series jam-packed full of witchery, sorcery, giants, a wizard queen and a wizard king who just might end up being proud of their rebellious children – sort of.

Lots more action and the final battle to end all battles. A spell has been spun, ingredients collected and a sword is ready to strike. This being the fourth book in the series, I got to know the characters well and my heart was pumping while I cheered the young heroes on during the chaos of a magical fight to the death – but whose will it be?

Another secret revealed is who the narrator of the story is…. not telling!   The books are full of drawings and sketches of the characters and action, but if you can get your hands on an audio copy too – it’s twice the fun with the book in your hand. David Tennant is absolutely brilliant at telling the story, singing the songs, and giving the characters distinct voices. I know these voices will remain in my head when I read this series again.
