The worst villain in the world is free after 30 years locked up deep underground. What makes Magpie the worst villain in the world?Kid Normal (3) and the Shadow Machine Book Review Cover

It is how he got his name.

Just like a Magpie, he collects things. The only problem is his favourite thing to collect is super hero’s capes (capabilities). He sucks powers from members of the Heroes Alliance as easy as drinking a chocolate milkshake. And with every super hero he does this to, there is one less hero to fight back.

Kid Normal’s lack of powers intrigues Magpie. How is this boy so successful on his missions with his friends the Super Zeroes without powers of his own? To Magpie, Kid Normal is an enigma, and one he is desperate to unravel. His plan is devious and complicated. After 30 years in prison he has learned to be patient, so rolls out his plan slowly and carefully with Kid Normal in his sights.

Part 1 of Magpie’s plan is complete – he wasn’t the only one to escape the ‘inescapable’ prison and he has formed the Evil Alliance with dozens of Rogue Heroes wreaking havoc everywhere.

Part 2 is to get Murph (Kid Normal) on his side. If asked, everyone would vow that could never happen, but Magpie is very evil indeed. Stooping low is nothing to him and he goes as low as he can get, and Kid Normal has no way to stop him.

Life is the worst its ever been for Kid Normal. Even his best friends the Super Zeroes seem to have deserted him. Doing the right thing, keeping a promise and loved ones safe is proving too much for Murph, until …. Magpie underestimates the power and loyalty of friendship.

Even more intrigue, action, tension and bananas than the 1st two books in this hilarious series, Kid Normal and the Shadow Machine will have you on the edge of your seat.

You have to keep your wits about you as the abnormal becomes a jump back in time, the catch up is completely bonkers, and the conclusion chaotic with ‘capes’ going everywhere!

You will even end up in Mr MacGregor’s garden looking down weaponry Peter Rabbit never dreamed of, or more precisely – had a nightmare about. Told you – Completely Bonkers!

As with all episodes of the Kid Normal series, the story is told directly to the reader, questions are asked, and warnings given. Simply hilarious!

Loved 1 & 2 – 3? Ditto.
